It started by exchanging something valuable like gold for goods, which the villagers all agreed to, although money could've been anything, like coconuts, to replace a barter system. Government spending isn't necessary.
Someone could've discovered a gold mine and bought everything in the village and then taxed part of his gold back to spend again, but every culture is different. Nonetheless, a king or government isn't necessary. |
