My first two portfolios, since early 2000s failed. I declared my last portfolio a failure when I lost 97% of it. I started a new portfolio in March 2018. Here are the annual returns:
March 2018 to March 2019: 409%
March 2019 to March 2020: (57%) - loss
March 2020 to March 2021: 7%
March 2021 to March 2022: 290%
March 2022 to March 2023: 174%
January 1st to April 14th: 13.6% - Year to date 2023
I've been much more cautious compared to last year. It seems, I found the right combination of managing a portfolio, including taking advantage of volatility to lock in some gains and keeping a large cash reserve in case I'm wrong. Also, I've been more often generally correct predicting direction and trading ranges. I've always been a good stock picker going long, but getting trapped into too many puts has been my big downfall. |
