Hi Rick, yes, I believe, when a buyer and a seller opens one contract, then open interest increases by one. When a buyer and a seller closes one contract, then open interest decreases by one. Open interest is the total number of open option contracts. The total is adjusted after the close and shown the next trading day. Thanks for your interest. Arthur
