The first chart is a DIA to QQQ ratio chart. The second chart is a DIA chart, and the third chart is a QQQ chart (all three charts are daily charts from Mar 1st 2004 to Oct 15th 2004).

Comparing the three charts show each time the DIA to QQQ ratio fell to 2.80 or lower, DIA either rallied or QQQ fell much more than DIA. Currently, DIA is far below its 200 day MA, while QQQ is just barely below it. Also, DIA is below its 50 day MA, while QQQ is above it.

Also, there was a DIA doji today (Fri), along with a doji on the ratio chart. Furthermore, the ratio MACD is low, although it failed to cross, and the ratio RSI is oversold.

So, either DIA will rise more than QQQ or QQQ will fall more than DIA over the short-term. However, it seems more likely DIA will rise within the next week or so. Also, it's possible DIA will have a volatile consolidation similar to the left shoulder of the bullish inverse head & shoulders, if this become the eventual pattern.
