PeakTrader:

What percentage of climate change is caused by people (compared to all the other factors)?

If people have a significant effect on climate change, haven’t we done enough already to stem climate change in this deep depression, that may turn into a “lost decade” or two, where the U.S. is underproducing by $1 trillion a year, along with slowing global economic growth?

Why do anything, because of the natural decline of fossil fuels on climate change. from production and technology?

Economists cannot create a sound general equilibrium model of a large economy. Yet, you believe climatologists can create a much larger and more complex – global/universal – sound model? Here’s another view:

“The changes in CO2 track ocean surface temperature, not global carbon emissions.

Burning fossil fuels is not increasing atmospheric CO2. Recovery from the Little Ice Age, driven by the sun, is causing the oceans to release CO2.

It is temperature driving CO2 release, not the other way around.”

Little Ice Age – Wikipedia

“The Little Ice Age was a period of cooling that occurred after the Medieval Warm Period. While it was not a true ice age, the term was introduced into the scientific literature by François E. Matthes in 1939. It has been conventionally defined as a period extending from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, or alternatively, from about 1350 to about 1850, though climatologists and historians working with local records no longer expect to agree on either the start or end dates of this period, which varied according to local conditions. NASA defines the term as a cold period between AD 1550 and 1850."

Abstract

The analysis of air bubbles from ice cores has yielded a precise record of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, but the timing of changes in these gases with respect to temperature is not accurately known because of uncertainty in the gas age–ice age difference. We have measured the isotopic composition of argon in air bubbles in the Vostok core during Termination III (∼240,000 years before the present). This record most likely reflects the temperature and accumulation change, although the mechanism remains unclear. The sequence of events during Termination III suggests that the CO2 increase lagged Antarctic deglacial warming by 800 ± 200 years and preceded the Northern Hemisphere deglaciation.

Princeton U. Physicist Dr. William Happer and NASA Moonwalker & Geologist Dr. Harrison H. Schmitt wrote: “Thanks to the single-minded demonization of this natural and essential atmospheric gas by advocates of government control of energy production, the conventional wisdom about carbon dioxide is that it is a dangerous pollutant. That’s simply not the case.”

“Many people don’t realize that over geological time, we’re really in a CO2 famine now. Almost never has CO2 levels been as low as it has been in the Holocene (geologic epoch) – 280 (parts per million – ppm) – that’s unheard of. Most of the time [CO2 levels] have been at least 1000 (ppm) and it’s been quite higher than that,” Happer told the Senate Committee. “Earth was just fine in those times.”

Geoffrey G. Duffy, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Auckland, NZ: “Even doubling or tripling the amount of carbon dioxide will virtually have little impact, as water vapor and water condensed on particles as clouds dominate the worldwide scene and always will.”

UK Professor Emeritus of Biogeography Philip Stott of the University of London explains the crux of the entire global warming debate and rebuts the notion that CO2 is the main climate driver.

“As I have said, over and over again, the fundamental point has always been this: climate change is governed by hundreds of factors, or variables, and the very idea that we can manage climate change predictably by understanding and manipulating at the margins one politically-selected factor (CO2), is as misguided as it gets.”

Former Harvard University Physicist Dr. Lubos Motl dismissed any significance to 400ppm of CO2 in an essay titled “Why we should work hard to raise the CO2 concentration”: “CO2 is primarily plant food while its other implications for Nature are negligible in comparison. Humanitarian orgs should work hard to help mankind to increase the CO2 concentration,” Motl wrote. “’CO2 is the key compound that plants need to grow – and, indirectly, that every organism needs.

Lennart Bengtsson, formerly of UN IPCC: ‘We Are Creating Great Anxiety Without It Being Justified…there are no indications that the warming is so severe that we need to panic…The warming we have had the last a 100 years is so small that if we didn’t have meteorologists and climatologists to measure it we wouldn’t have noticed it at all.”

Australian Geologist Dr. Ian Plimer wrote: “At present, the Earth’s atmosphere is starved of CO2.” Plimer, who authored the skeptical book Heaven and Earth, added, “On all time scales, there is no correlation between temps and CO2. If there is no correlation, then there can be no causation.”

Professor Dr. Doug L. Hoffman, mathematician, computer programmer and engineer, wrote: “There have been ice ages when the levels of Co2 in Earth’s atmosphere have been many times higher than today’s.”

Ivy League geologist Dr. Robert Giegengack, former chair of Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania: “It’s hard for us to say that CO2 drives temperature. It’s easier to say temperature drives CO2,” he added.

‘Scientists note that geologically speaking, the Earth is currently in a ‘CO2 famine’ and that the geologic record reveals that ice ages have occurred when CO2 was at 2000 ppm to as high as 8000 ppm. In addition, peer-reviewed studies have documented that there have been temperatures similar to the present day on Earth when carbon dioxide was up to twenty times higher than today’s levels’

Climatologist Dr. Patrick Michaels and Chip Knappenberger declared 400 ppm of CO2 was cause for ‘celebration.”

As you can see in the chart in the link above, CO2 increased only 85 ppm when the earth’s human population more than doubled, from 3 billion to 7 billion.

Maybe, the small amount of CO2 is coming from people breathing.

Creating a panic in global warming may cause people to hyperventilate adding more CO2 Smile

Baffling:

peak, yeah that was a real scientific study. a graph with no analysis. it was captioned in a way to walk weak minded folks down the path of innuendo you just repeated. brilliant!

PeakTrader:

Last time I checked, people inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide Smile

Please list all the variables that cause global warming.

And, please give me an estimate of the “potential damage” humans caused by making the world warmer.

Also, I’d like to know how much it would cost to make the world cooler.

Then, if there’s anything left over, we can build a very big spaceship to prevent a comet from hitting the earth.
